Collecting Credit Card Signatures

Hello!

We (finally) transitioned to EMV payments utilizing the new WisePOS payment terminal and away from the traditional swipe we had been using. With this technology change, we are now looking to remove the requirement that guests sign the merchant copy of the credit card receipt. Our bank is recommending that we still collect signatures if the credit card is swiped, but not if it is inserted or tapped. With that, I am wondering a few things:

  1. Is it possible in Altru to differentiate and only print a merchant copy CC receipt if the card is swiped?
  2. If that isn't possible, how do we remove the printing of the merchant copy for all CC transactions?
  3. And finally, on a somewhat related topic, is it possible through Altru to pass along the credit card fees to the consumer by adding a % fee to all transactions that are paid via CC?

I appreciate your help!

  • @Mike Mogard I have this same question. Did you find anything out?

  • @Tami Goertzen Yes, I was able to get some answers going through chat support.
    1. No, it is not possible for Altru to differentiate how the card is processed and only print a CC receipt if the card is swiped. For this reason, and because of our limited chargeback challenge history, we opted to remove the merchant copy of the CC receipt entirely. But this does put us more at risk for swiped cards, if customer were to challenge the charge.

    2. The customer service representative told us that the best way to do this was to remove all printers from the printer list on the Credit Card Receipt sales document. Tickets→Sales Documents→Down arrow under Credit Card Receipt→Edit→Change printer list to blank→Save

    3. I did not get an answer on this part.

    Hope this helps.

  • @Mike Mogard Thank you so much for your quick response. We also have very few chargebacks, so I think I will follow the directions you gave for disabling the credit card receipt from printing.
