Unsubscribes through Luminate Opt-out form - Mass Marketing Emails And/Or Individual Outreach

Hi All! Curious to know how other organizations consider email unsubscribes through the Luminate Unsubscribe form. When someone unsubscribes in response to an email through LO, does your org consider that to be an unsubscribe from all email communications, including - say - direct outreach from a gift officer? Or only mass-communications through LO?

At every organization I've worked for so far email unsubscribes have also been inclusive of direct communication from development, but I am questioning if that is the conventional wisdom.

And for those at Blackbaud in this community - is this covered anywhere in our service terms?

@Dan Potterton Hi Dan, here is the link to the Email Acceptable Use Policy. Once consent is revoked, you must demonstrate explicit consent to send future bulk messages.

Luminate has the ability to allow constituents to unsubscribe to an interest rather than the full list. Our help documentation has information on how to use interest categories in this manner.

@Erik Leaver Thanks Erik and I totally get that. My question here is if the email unsubscribe is also thought to extend to email communication directly (not through LO) from individuals at an organization, like major gift officers.

@Dan Potterton If it's an email from an individual, that is fine. It's the bulk messages that need to be respected.

@Dan Potterton we interpret an unsubscribe as being removed from all future bulk email communications, even from other email platforms. It's definitely some work, but keeping Inbox Placement and Deliverability high is the goal.

@Philip Nawrocki For some context, we have some gift officers who are concerned that they can't e-mail a prospect directly because they unsubscribed through the Luminate unsubscribe form.
