User name format change?

Yesterday's release notes said that the default user name format in Core would be changing with today's release, but it doesn't look like anything's changed in the default format. When I tried to add a custom format to match what the release notes said would be the new format, nothing actually changed.

Am I missing something? Is this a waved release or did it not go out into the wild yet? @Jessi Walters, any ideas?

    @Brian LeBlanc I believe there was a temporary delay in the release yesterday, but it was resolved some time later on Tuesday. The release should be caught up now.

  • @Bryna Gleich ours hasn't caught up with the update - still looking the old way - like Brian's screenshot

    @Kathy Hannon
    Ok. Should be showing up soon then. The issue holding up the deployment was resolved yesterday, so it should get to people this morning sometime. As best as I know.

  • @Bryna Gleich Yep, ours has caught up now. Thanks!

    Just to confirm, this is only for things like rosters and attendance lists, right? The header on a user's Core profile, for example, or on a student's EMS profile, still has the old style with the nickname in quotes. I think that's probably correct but just want to make sure I'm not missing something.

    @Brian LeBlanc correct, it does not affect the names in the header portion of the user record in EMS, Academics or Core.

  • Now my only complaint is that my OCD is upset that the default format and custom format are identical, but I can't delete the custom format once something is entered in there ? ah well, on the list of things to complain about that's got to be near the bottom of a very lengthy list

  • @Brian LeBlanc I actually set a custom format a few months ago that turns out to be the exact new default format, so if I'd known, I could have saved myself the trouble and now have the same custom/default repetition issue you have. Ah well…in the scheme of things I'm going to consider this a win.

    @Brian LeBlanc you've probably figured out by now that the release didn't ship until today. Teams across BEM are working to point to the User name format in more and more places. Specifically, the Core team has a prototype for further customization of user name format, and once that is shipped, then adoption of User name format will expand even more quickly, especially on the portal side.

    P.S. - that list of things I want to do is oh-so-lengthy. (See: Idea bank)
