Convert relationship types

We have been using Solicitor relationships for things other than a true ‘Fundraiser.’ Since we are moving to NXT soon, we are looking for best practices in converting these solicitor relationships to individual relationships. My initial thought is - export those relationships and re-import as individual relationships, but then… how to clean up the old solicitor relationships? Has anyone been successful in making this type of change?

@Katherine Somich What types of relationships would you want to have? You can create multiple solicitor types. We've used this for keeping what the relationship is focused on. For example we could have a constituent who might have a general solicitor / fundraiser, a volunteer solicitor for helping with outreach / events and another one for a capital campaign. Just and example but you get the idea.

However, because of the way NXT assigns portfolios in the Work Center, we are looking to eliminate these additional Solicitor relationships and instead link those folks to the constituents as Individual relationships.

Just because someone is a solicitor does NOT mean they are automatically assigned a portfolio. To enable a work center, in Admin → Security in database view, link their user account to their constituent record. This happens to be an instance where I do not have a constituent record, which is how you should probably proceed when you move to NXT:

This is probably not the best choice in the long run, because we do not know how work center assignment will function when everything is in webview, but it will buy you time while you work on shifting some of your solicitors to relationships instead.
