Auto renewal adoption
My deputy director has given the directive to increase auto renewing members. She had heard from some source that the industry standard for automatic renewal adoption should be 80% (we are currently at 8%). We may have convinced her that we cannot force people into automatic renewals with only and opt out option, but she is adamant about significantly increasing the Automatic renewers. I wonder if any of you have found a way to grow the Automatic renewals, or if anyone has any feelings about the situation.

@Meri Grube I'm curious about the reasoning behind the push for more auto-renewals. I get the impression that the higher-ups think it will be a time-saver for staff, but we've found that isn't necessarily the case.

@Meri Grube I'm wondering if you have had any success in increasing your auto-renewing memberships. We also are at around 8% and I am wondering if it is reasonable to think that we could double it - say to 15%. I was thinking of offering a discount on the first payment to entice folks to sign up. Looking for anyone who has any ideas around this. Thanks.
