NXT Queries Just... Hang?
I've encountered this a number of times now but I haven't found much of a discernable pattern or reason. I'm finding that about 20% of the time queries just sort of "hang" at some point in NXT. Sometimes they recover, sometimes they don't. I might go to add a "summary" field and NXT will just stop and give me that stupid green ball for 30.. 40.. 50 seconds or more before finally giving me the option to choose my criteria.
The same is true to with running queries. Sometimes they work quickly, sometimes they just hang and the results page sits without any results forever. If I saved the query before running it I can go into database view and get results in 5 seconds or less for simple queries.
Sometimes I can reset these queries by going out and going back in, but sometimes they just don't want to work. Once I fiddle with the criteria a bit (removing and adding in the exact same field and criteria) they will sometimes work fine.
Is anyone else finding NXT queries to be a little unstable? Sometimes they work great (and sometime they are quicker than database view) but I still get stuck once or twice a day with a query that just sits or never ever gives results.

Because there tends to be issues with RE NXT and it it not fully developed, I suggest to do your work in the workhorse, RE Database View. You can never go wrong using that system that Blackbaud is attempting to tear down while attempting to build up the inferior RE NXT, which was designed as RE for Gift Officer dummies.

Hi Tom, I was out on Friday and my supervisor reported a similar issue although no queries are working in the webview and they are working in the database view. I have not noticed an issue yet. I will start a case later when she is back at her desk. If you haven't already I would suggest you also start a case.

@Tom Klimchak I'm on with support right now. I think I may have found the issue (or at least one of the issues). Are the queries that are not working for you based on other queries in the record processing area?

I've noticed this as well. I usually will go and change something in Options like Name or the Category to be able to click re-run the query and most of the time the results will happen immediately. My only thought is there's areas that aren't fully there yet. It's frustrating because it's important to learn and use Webview but it is still lacking.

The queries that aren't working for us have in the past in web view so there is something new. I'm still on with support and @Tom Klimchak I have ruled out the record processing that was looking so promising.

I run into this as well. Often, it will run the query but then there is nothing on the results screen and everything is grayed out. I can't cancel - but there is no green dot telling me that it is still running. I often have to use the back button and start over. It typically happens when I'm on a call with a client which means I don't have the time to properly troubleshoot. sigh

I have the same issue, and it seems entirely random when it happens.

I have had problems this year with queries hanging when the Total Gift Amount is included with other criteria, in both views. I can run a query in seconds when Total Gift Amount is the only field, but add it to other criteria and it takes so long to run that I eventually have to give it the three-finger salute and re-do it.

Came here to find a solution for this, but am nonetheless gratified to find it's not just me! No particular rhyme or reason to the hanging i.e. not complicated queries or with lots of output. Turn it off and on again it is then!
