Need to Remove Just 1 Attribute Description from Group of Constituents

We have an attribute category with multiple descriptions. I need to remove only 1 of the available out of about 811 records without delete the entire attribute category. Because this description also has various dates and comments from constituent to constituent, I don't think the global change will work because the test I did on just 2 constituent records removed the description but left the dates/comments and of course the actual attribute category. What am I missing? Hoping this does not need to be a manual deletion process. :(

  • How did you set up the global change test? Did you select the specific attribute from the Attribute node or the generic "Attributes"? If you select the generic Attributes and then specify the Category and Description in the window, it will delete just that instance only:

and the detail would look like this:

  • I went to globally change records, then clikced on constituent and "new change". From the next screen I added in my query of the 2 test records, scrolled down to Constituent Attributes, found the category, and then went in to it to then "delete" - screenshot below:

but when I ran it, it only REMOVES the description field - the actual Category, date and comments are still on the record. I cannot globally delete the attribute because there are about 25-30 other items available on the drop-down. Scratching my head.

  • Ooh, I may have found the generic "Attributes" hiddin below "Ask". Trying that way now. Fingers crossed!

  • You need to scroll in the Attributes node and find the generic "Attributes" as I screen capped, then click on that, select the category, select the description and select the operation. Than it deletes just that line and leaves attributes from the same category but with other descriptions alone.

  • SUCCESS!!!!!!!! I feel that s/b the first choice in the list but I'm just happy that accomplished what was needed. Have a fantastic evening and thankful for this community! ~Denise

  • Yes, it should be better highlighted as it tends to get lost in the long drop down of attributes. Maybe they'll improve its placement when this function moves to web view.
