Metrics in Constant Contact

Will any metrics be visible on a constituent record in RE, such as open, clicks, unsubscribes, or hard or soft bounces from emails? Will users be able to export this data, or will it only be visible when viewing the constituent record?

  • To answer that specifically: Yes, you can see these metrics, but there is a distinction between what you can "see" and what you can "report" on.

    1. What is visible on the record?

When the integration is active, a dedicated area called the Constituent Engagement Add-In appears directly on the constituent’s record in RE NXT. It provides a real-time feed of the last 100 engagement activities, including:

    • Sends: When an email was delivered to them.
    • Opens: When they viewed the message.
    • Clicks: Which specific links they interacted with.

For each of these, you’ll see the Activity Type, the Time/Date, and the Campaign Name. This is perfect for a fundraiser who wants to see if a donor has been reading their recent newsletters before picking up the phone.

    2. What about Unsubscribes and Bounces?

According to the latest technical documentation:

    • Unsubscribes: These do not appear in the Engagement Add-In list. However, the integration is designed to sync "Consent" and "Do Not Email" statuses. So, while you won’t see a line item saying "Unsubscribed from Newsletter," the constituent’s communication preferences in RE NXT will be updated to ensure you don't email them again.
    • Bounces: While "Bounces" aren't explicitly listed as a primary activity type in the Add-In, they are tracked within Constant Contact.

    3. Can you export this data?

This is a key point for database managers:

    • Viewing vs. Data Entry: This data is visible in the Add-In, but it is not stored as "Actions" or native RE NXT fields.
    • Exporting: Because these activities live in the Add-In (a window into Constant Contact data) and not as native RE NXT records, you cannot export this specific engagement list using a standard RE NXT Export or Query. * The Solution: If you need a CSV of everyone who clicked a specific link to do an advanced data analysis, you would export that list directly from Constant Contact.
    • FUTURE STATE: We are working with our partners at Blackbaud to give you actionable data (query) in the near future (This year).
