Faculty Records: Teaching Certification Tracking

Our school tracks teaching certifications yearly. Currently this is managed in an external spreadsheet. Does anyone manage certification information for teachers inside Blackbaud? If so, how are you adding and tracking this information to a faculty user record? I see where we can add an admin publishable field, and I have been testing this. So far, that has been my only solution. Ideally, we would want to house the ID number and expiration date for easy access and reporting annually.

  • I did something similar for a while with background checks using two admin only fields. We used a date field to enter the expiration date so that we could pull a list of people who needed renewals. The other field would be for the ID number. I did have to create a custom role for my business office users so that they could see admin only fields. It worked okay and I prefered it to a spreadsheet.

    We try to keep employee details like this out of Blackbaud though, and have since moved this information to software used by HR along with other qualification and training requirements for employees. When Blackbaud was my only option, I wasn't able to come up with a better solution.
