What Permissions for Constant Contact Integration?

Hello! We are making the switch to Constant Contact for our emails. I do not want to use an admin account to initiate the integration, since I don't believe in providing complete security access to third party software. So I have made a dedicated user account to manage the integration, just as I've done in the past with other integrations. I am unable, however, to find a comprehensive list of permissions that Constant Contact needs for full functionality. Their support staff just keep urging us to integrate under an admin account. I'm hoping someone here has had better luck and can share a list of permissions for me to give our dedicated Constant Contact user account in RE?

  • Hi @Faith Murray your fellow All-Star @Amy Barker who is with Omatic to see if she can provide any assistance!

  • Following.. as Constant Contact has always IMHO been problematic due to their one account "owner" set up..in which only that "owner" has maximum permissions. Others can be set up for SOME permissions, but only one (the "owner" ) can log in and have ALL permissions. I know of a few other orgs who are grappling with this also.

  • Following as well…

I'm updating this for anyone who may be following. It took a couple weeks to receive full responses from both Constant Contact support and Blackbaud support, as they had to do some research and get back with me.

Constant Contact got me information directly from their developers, who said that: "This is from our integrations developers directly: "No, non admins can't use the apis and the integration connection will fail. The user who connected the integration must be a Blackbaud admin and must have READ/WRITE permission for the following APIs on the Subscription page:

    Consent

    Constituent

    NXT Data Integration

    Query

    Webhook"

Blackbaud apparently does not offer the necessary settings to delegate all of these permissions in user accounts - at least, not that anyone has been able to tell me. (Obviously, I can delegate Query, Consent, Marketplace, and Constituent, but there is no obvious setting for Webhook.) Thus, Blackbaud Support told me, "I can confirm that successfully use Constant Contact, an administrator must complete the initial connection to Raiser’s Edge NXT. Once this connection is established, other users can then utilise Constant Contact as needed."
