Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT®: The Transition to a Single Web View Experience

On Tuesday, Tiffany Crumpton, SVP of Fundraising, shared that on September 15, 2027, support for the Raiser's Edge NXT database view ends, along with the products that depend on it—Blackbaud Online Express™, Blackbaud NetCommunity™, and database view-based plug-ins, integrations, and customizations. From that date forward, your fundraising runs entirely through the Raiser's Edge NXT web experience. Notably, there is no data migration: your constituent records, gift history, and organizational information stay exactly where they are.

As a 30-year Blackbaudian who has witnessed the evolution of Raiser’s Edge from the original DOS version, I am truly excited about what’s ahead for Raiser’s Edge NXT. The future holds powerful innovations designed to help you engage more donors, grow your revenue, and boost your team’s efficiency.

Roadmap Updates

We understand you have (lots of) questions and concerns about functionality that has not yet transitioned to web view.

To this end, we’ve changed the focus of our September 8th InsideTrack session to focus on “Web View: Roadmap to Readiness”. In this session I’ll cover what’s been recently released, a deeper dive on what's coming, and leave time for Q&A.

I’ll provide a few immediate updates below:

Gift Processing
- Core gift processing, including batch defaults, adjustments, linking to tributes, events, benefits and matching gifts. Available in October.
- Additional batch usability enhancements including improvements to tabbed batch entry, resize columns in batch, custom field improvements will continuous to release through December.
Communications
- Mail, including receipts and consolidated receipts, acknowledgements, pledge Reminders and quick letters. Available by December.
Constituent Management
- Constituent record refresh (tabbed view). Available by October 2026.
- Remaining constituent fields from database view. Available by March 2027.
Engagement
- Volunteer and membership. Available by December.
- Event enhancements including copy, custom fields, and seating. Available by April 2027.
Data Management
- Export and import of constituents and gifts, including scheduling. Available by December 2026.
- Global Change and additional import types. Continuous release through June 2027.

As always, your feedback influences our priority order as we transition the workflows you rely on most. We’ve incorporated and released more than 185 ideas already this year (17.5K votes) and have 125+ more planned by year end (16K votes).

Thank you for scheduling this session. I'm hopeful it will provide some much-needed clarity around the transition timeline and roadmap.

As I review the transition checklist, I have a significant concern regarding the guidance under "Plan Ahead: Other Workflows," which states: "There is no adoption action required yet. Instead, use this time to draft your internal policies and procedures and stay informed as capabilities are delivered."

How are organisations expected to develop meaningful policies, procedures, and training plans when the final functionality, workflows, and limitations are not yet available to review or test in real-world use cases, particularly as each charity has developed their version of database view to meet their needs.

For many organisations, the challenge is not simply learning new screens. Policies, procedures, staff training, documentation, governance, and change management all depend on understanding how the completed functionality will work in practice. These activities generally cannot be done until the relevant features have been released and can be tested / evaluated by the operations / data staff.

I believe this is at the heart of many customers' concerns about the current timeline. Organisations typically need at least 6 to 12 months after a workflow is available to develop, test, document, and embed new processes across their teams. During that period, access to the existing database view functionality is essential to maintain business continuity while the transition is completed.

Can Blackbaud provide guidance on how customers can develop processes now for workflows that are scheduled to be delivered close to the September 2027 end-of-support date? For example, does Blackbaud plan on giving us thorough 'How to' and in depth functionality guides several months before functionality is released?

Hi Suzie - Thank you for reaching out. To respond to how we can and plan to assist, as each workflow becomes available, we publish a matching checklist, step-by-step guide, and training resources alongside it, so guidance shows up in step with real functionality rather than as a single guide dumped right before the cutover. You will also find best practice policy and procedues templates in the Transtion Resource center. You also don't have to wait for a formal guide to start planning: the Feature Map lets you see what's available now, what's coming, and what's not planned, so you can map out your own workflows early. It is also updated based on updates to the roadmap based on customer feedback.

Beyond the page itself, there's ongoing support through live training sessions, weekly updates on the roadmap and Community resources, so the guidance keeps evolving rather than being a one-and-done drop.

The Feature Map is a nice resource. However, it doesn't get into all the details a user may be looking for. My example from today was when setting up a template pledge batch for our phonathon there is not an option for the field 'send reminders.' Batch entry for pledges is listed as 'available.'

Understandably, the 'send reminders' is too detailed to appear on the map. Anthony responded to my email that it's coming in a couple of weeks. Meanwhile our phonathon starts next week so we will be in database view. I will not have our pledge entry staff use web view and have to query and globally add that checkbox (and an attribute that is still not able to be defaulted in batch).

Speaking for myself, and probably other, only having 80%, then 90%, then 98% of needed functions and having to work in two systems, train new staff, develop procedure guidelines continues to just take so much time. It's hard to be a cheerleader for years for what will be coming some day.

I'm still waiting on news about 'Online Giving Advanced' - we used Netcommunity for website, giving forms, event registration forms, and email communications. Currently working on moving away from it but I'm curious about this "upgrade" everyone with a Netcommunity subscription will be getting. Maybe I wouldn't have cancelled netcommunity if I had known something was coming and had information about it. One vague statement about it in an email isn't enough for people still on Netcommunity to make an informed decision about how to move forward either.
