Apply an Incoming Pledge Payment to Different Constituent Record Where Pledge Actually Lives

Hi! I am wanting to share something we learned today that may benefit others if you ever have this scenario. From time to time we get a payment for a pledge from a donor advised fund constituent even though the actual pledge lives on another gift record. In NXT we didn't think we were able to link given that scenario, but found out today you can! The gift type needs to be selected as "pledge payment" and then over to the left will then be visible "Apply to" button that you can then click on to be able to select the pledge the gift needs to be applied to.

Once you select Apply to, the next screen opens where you will then be able to make your selection of the appropriate pledge you're needing to connect to.

Hoping this may help somebody else that didn't know if that was an option - IT IS! #happydance

Once you get the "Pledges" column, you can click on the apply to pledge link and a window will pop up for you to work with

This doesn't work for me in a gift batch, there is no "pledge payment" in the dropdown of gift types.

Sorry, my scenario was based on a single gift entry, not within an actual batch. Our daily gift entry at times is small so we do not always utilize batch every day. I did reach out to see if this would be something forthcoming in batch options with the same scenario. Stay tuned!

That is how it works.

You cannot select "pledge payment" as it is automatically change to pledge payment when you applied the gift to a pledge.

In webview batch, you can select a different constituent to apply pledge to.

I hope this will be added to batch options, otherwise I will not be able to add this type of gift in a batch.

I think you might be misunderstanding the batching process I explained.

First, the clarity, you CAN add pledge payment in webview batch. That is not a limitation.

Like database view batch, you were never able to directly select Pledge Payment (Pay-Cash) as a gift type when doing entry, you select one of the "cash" type (i.e. Cash, Stock, etc). You can then "apply" this cash gift as payment to a pledge through a pop up window to select the pledge to applied to. Once you go through the process, the gift automatically turn into Pledge Payment.
