Introducing the IPEDS Guide

Published

This week, we're showcasing another new guide to help make your life a bit easier. This guide will help you complete annual reports for the U.S. Department of Education’s Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS).

As U.S. colleges and universities prepare to fill out their IPEDS reports, we realize it can be challenging to find and organize the necessary data.

This week we’re publishing the first two sections of our IPEDS Guide, which will help you complete annual reports for the U.S. Department of Education’s Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System.

The first section of the guide will walk you through the steps for filling out the 12-Month Enrollment (E12) form. This form requires you to report unduplicated headcounts, instructional activity, and full-time equivalent enrollment for a period from July 1 through June 30.

The second section deals with the Completions report. This report collects information about the number of degrees and certificates awarded by field of study, award level, gender, age, and race/ethnicity.

You can bookmark the guide or find it any time in the higher education help by navigating to Academics, Tutorials, then IPEDS Guide. Skip between sections of the guide using the On this page menu on the right side of the page.

We are working to add more column headers and filter views to help you fill out other required IPEDS reports. We will update the IPEDS Guide with more sections as new features become available. Click here to see the IPEDS Guide.

I am looking forward to perusing this. It has been greatly needed. The horse is already out of the barn this year (the Completions and 12-Month Enrollment surveys were due last month), but I expect that help with navigating lists and reports will be useful with the upcoming surveys (due in February and April).
