Blackbaud University Day: Meet Your Instructor Kirk!
Published
BLACKBAUD UNIVERSITY DAY
INSTRUCTOR SPOTLIGHT | Kirk Lilwall
Hello! My name is Kirk and I’m very excited to be an instructor teaching at Blackbaud University Day this year at bbcon! If you’ve taken one of my online or in-person classes, you’ll remember me as the tall Canadian guy who plays ukulele and has a 27-year-old pet turtle.
Last year at bbcon, I was one of the lucky ones who got to participate in the first ever Blackbaud University Day. One of the things I took away from University Day was how unique the sessions are. We already know the content is unique because it’s designed only for this conference—but what I noticed was how much conversation and sharing happened during these sessions. My sessions were not strictly meant to be “roundtable/workshop” style, but we still had incredible conversations about what people are doing in their databases to best use the software to achieve their organizational goals and objectives.
As incredible an experience as that was, I can’t help but feel like this year will be even better. I know each session will be a great experience and there will be takeaways that you simply will not get anywhere else. I’ll be teaching four sessions throughout the day, covering various aspects of Raiser’s Edge and Raiser’s Edge NXT:
Can’t wait to see you at University Day in October!

I’ll be teaching four sessions throughout the day, covering various aspects of Raiser’s Edge and Raiser’s Edge NXT:
- Raiser’s Edge: Database Cleanup Using Import
We’ll talk about using the Import tool in the database view of Raiser’s Edge NXT to clean up your data.
- Raiser’s Edge Workshop: Building a Policies and Procedures Guide for Constituents
In this workshop session, we’ll motivate you to get your constituent management in tip-top shape.
- Raiser’s Edge Workshop: Building a Policies and Procedures Guide for Gifts
In this workshop session, we’ll help you systemize your gift management effort.
- Raiser’s Edge NXT: Creating Lists and Emails
This session was recently added to discuss the upcoming new functionality for the web view. We’ll discuss Email and Lists and how we can use the new web view tools once the functionality rolls out to all users.
