Database View

I use database view for all of my queries and reports. We have very customized fields in attributes and all donations are entered via database view. Is my understanding that this won't change and I can continue to use this method of operating in database view come February 26? I'm not clear on what is changing.

Blackbaud said at the PUB in Nov that nothing is changing in the db view until it all goes away in the summer of 2027. You should really watch the PUB if you haven't: https://www.blackbaud.com/product-update-briefings/new-on-demand However, you should also start using the web view, especially for queries. I just spent the morning writing my queries there and I like it better than db view.

If your org intents to continue using RE NXT as CRM, I strongly suggest you start using features from RE NXT webview ASAP. Blackbaud may delay their sunsetting of RE NXT dbview even come 2027, however, it will eventually happens.

As Bill said, there are already reasons to use webview for some functionalities that dbm used to do in dbview only. Here's what I feel you should definitely try:

• Query
• Standard Reports
• Config > Attribute (Custom Fields management)
• Code Table Management
• Basic Dashboard (RE NXT webview home page's custom dashboard tile options)

Also, if there is any functionality that you currently use in database view that is not in web view, use the Idea Bank to let Blackbaud know you need that feature. Be sure to search and vote on the topic if it has already been suggested, and if not, make the recommendation. Blackbaud made it clear at bbcon they ARE looking at the Idea Bank and implementing our suggestions.

As funny as the shirt is - I absolutely encourage you to get into web view and start using the features. Query is fantastic. The ability to schedule reports is awesome. Moving a gift from one record to another. So many great things!!!!
