Re subscribes in Constant Contact

Flagging this question as it appears marked as answered but I don't see a public reply, can you verify how resubscribes work?

  • Hello @PSG Claudia

In the integration between Raiser’s Edge NXT and Constant Contact, a "global opt-out" is easy to achieve, but a resubscribe requires an explicit action from the supporter. Because of strict anti-spam regulations (like CAN-SPAM), you cannot simply uncheck a box in RE NXT to start emailing them again; the supporter must "opt back in" through one of these methods.

    1. The Supporter Resubscribes Themselves (Recommended)

This is the most seamless way for someone to rejoin your list:

    • Via Your Website: If they fill out a Constant Contact sign-up form on your website, the system recognizes their email and automatically "promotes" them from Unsubscribed back to Active status.
    • Via an Old Email: If they still have a previous email from you, they can click the "Update Profile" link in the footer. This sends them a secure email allowing them to update their preferences and opt back in.

    2. The "Resubscribe Email" (Admin-Initiated)

If a donor contacts you directly asking to be added back, you can trigger a one-time invitation:

    3. What Happens in Raiser’s Edge NXT?

Once the supporter confirms their resubscription in Constant Contact:

    • Consent Update: During the next 24-hour sync cycle, the integration will update the Consent record in RE NXT.
    • Data Updates: We are working with Blackbaud to ensure these "opt-back-in" actions reflect as clearly as "opt-outs" do. Currently, the integration is designed to help clear the "Requests No Email" or "Do Not Email" flags on their record once the status moves back to Active.
