Auditing staff/user activity within RENXT

Hi -

We've recently run into a situation where some records may have been altered and deleted, but can't seem to figure out who may have done it or when. Thankfully it's not catastrophic but is there some kind of audit trail of activity that happens within RENXT? So that if someone deletes a constituent record, I can see who did it and when it happened? (And hopefully have an easy process to restore?)

We had reached out to support and they say they didn't have a log to track that - which seems really shocking and upsetting from a data controls/governance standpoint.

Anyone else run into this?

support is right that none of the functionalities you are asking exists by default in RE.

There is a 3rd party app that you can connect that will provide some of the information you seek: AuditTrail

You can also utilize SKY API Webhook to do some of what you want too, but you will need some knowledge on how-to.

Two things I would add are:

1. Ensure the ability to delete records is clamped down to only those who should be able to delete the record. More can have access to edit a record but less should have access to delete.
2. For some things, such as changes to a constituent record (not deletions), you could run a query based on 'Date Last Changed' and 'Last Changed By' to narrow down who is making some of the edits.

Agree with @Chris Hounsell. The ability to delete records should be very limited. This is one of the functions that BB needs to keep very granular. Deleting a record is quite different than deleting a note or data point.

I recommend limiting delete rights on most types of records, especially: Constituent, Gift, Event, Campaign, Fund, Appeal, Address, and Opportunities.

Agree with all those that stated limited deleting rights of records. Two reliable and database people only. No one else should have that right. We also limit deleting rights of gifts and other important information that can cause havoc.
