Tracking fiscal year allocations for grants in opportunities

Question

How does your team enter opportunities for grant proposals so that the funding year is queryable? Put another way, if a grant payment is coming in FY27 but the money is actually allocated for spending in FY28, how do you capture that in an Opportunity?

This question can get tricky because when you refer to "allocated for spending….in FY 28" this seems more like an accounting function.  The money is recieved in FY 27 but spent in FY 28.  RE does not generally track how the money is spent just when it was recieved.  However, if you do want to track you can potentially use FY on your fund records.  For example - FY 27 Garden Project, FY 28 Garden project.

We make sure all of the names of the proposal begin with whatever Fiscal Year it will be, such as FY26 Capital Grant or FY27 Endowment Grant, etc.
