It Is All About The Columns!

The prospect researcher in me loves building queries and of course confirming and rejecting data.  However, the lower matching can be a bit of a chore unless you incorporate a few tips!

Each resource allows you to choose the column you want to see when you are viewing a prospects record.  So for instance with FEC data, the default view may look something like this -

While this is ok it does not help you determine which of these political gifts belong to the constituent.  So by clicking on the columns icon, you can pick and choose the information you want to see.  My steadfast rule is always having "Occupation" in my columns --

As you can see from above you get a variety of fields to choose from.  By just choosing Occupation I now have the following view -

Because I know my donor is connected with Ackerley Communications, I now can easily confirm 29 FEC political donations quickly.

Check out other resources like NOZA and determine what fields will help you in your quest of confirming and rejecting data quickly!

Thank you Michael.
These are all great ideas Eileen.  I like your approach of being proactive in setting up the columns!  Your suggestion around the real estate is particularly useful.  It helps determine if a person owns multiple properties which ones may be producing income and those that may not be an income producing asset!
The columns can be extremely helpful in working most efficiently in RP. When I set up new users in RP, my first training is column set up only. It is a great way to get a quick glance at useful information. In real estate my favorite column is property use; Securities-direct holding information; Businesses-Job title, Vuluation, Ownership Value; Wealth Idicators-Job titlea and Indicators; Political Donation-Occupation; Philanthropic Gifts- Gift Type and Category (even though there is a bar graph available);....those are a few of the columns that help me use my time efficiently.
