Using Shortcuts In ResearchPoint – Part 2

Published
I saw a blog posting up on the Altru Community today about using Shortcuts in that software, and it made me think that I'd like to blog about the topic myself for our ResearchPoint clients.  Then I did a search up on the TA Community, and low and behold... I did a blog post up on the TA Community entitled, Using Shortcuts in ResearchPoint back in March 2015!  Whether or not you use Shortcuts, I do recommend you read this blog to understand why and how they can be helpful.  The long and short of it is that Shortcuts will save you time and create efficient use of your ResearchPoint subscription, similar to the way Bookmarks and Favorites are used in web browsers.

Suffice it to say, that blog needs some slight updates as the assignment of new users and user roles in RP has changed due to Single Sign-On, and thus I do recommend that now you only need to save one page as a shortcut for managing this function vs. the three recommended in that blog post in 2015.

Here is a screenshot of the one area in RP that your administrator needs to save as a shortcut, and you save this shortcut by simply going to ‘Administration’, then ‘Application Users’, and save this page as a “one-stop-shop” on assigning new users and user roles:

  • For site administrators of RP:
    • ‘Application Users’ found under ‘Administration’ functional area, and the first listing under ‘Administration’ on that page – As mentioned above, used to create users and user logins
    •  ‘Batch Entry’ found under ‘Administration’ functional area, and then the next listing under ‘Batch on that page – Used for creating a batch template for importing records into RP, as well as committing “Uncommitted Batches”
  • For all users of RP:
    • ‘Find External Properties and Businesses’ found under ‘Prospects’ functional area, and under ‘Research tools’ on that page – Used to search both CoreLogic real estate and Dun & Bradstreet private company business data
    • ‘Target Analytics Model Scores and Ratings Results’ found under ‘Prospects’ functional area, and under ‘Research tools’ on that page – Used to download documents, slideshows, and other materials provided by your Target Analytics consultant upon online and onsite engagements

Any user in ResearchPoint might want to save specific shortcuts depending upon the products and services that they have such as the following:
  • A shortcut to a top constituent record via their “Wealth Summary” page (a.k.a., ‘Wealth and Ratings’)
  • A shortcut to a favorite query such as one that you run on a regular basis (i.e., many of our Data Screening Bundle clients run daily queries to isolate patient records with top WealthPoint Ratings)
  • A shortcut to a favorite dynamic Research List that you refresh with new prospect records in RP for batch screening
  • If you have an Affluence subscription, create a shortcut to the new ‘Target Analytics Affluence Dashboard’ located under the ‘Analysis’ functional area, as all records added to RP get Affluence data appended
  • A shortcut to a specific export process that you run on a regular basis

I also wanted to mention that under ‘Manage my shortcuts’ on the Explorer Bar, you can change the order of your Shortcuts, rename them, and also delete them when they are no longer necessary:

I find renaming the ‘Target Analytics Model Scores and Ratings Results’ shortcut to ‘Consultant Slideshows and Docs’ is more descriptive of what the page is used for.  Many clients remove the “Ad-hoc Query” at the beginning of a shortcut for a query or the “- Research List” at the end of a shortcut for a research list to make their Shortcuts look crisp and clean.

I hope you found this update to the initial March 2015 blog posting helpful.  What Shortcuts in RP do you use at your organization?
