Suggestions For RE And RP Integration

Published
Over the past year, there have been some great enhancements to the Raiser’s Edge (RE) and ResearchPoint (RP) integration.  Below are some suggestions for your nonprofit to consider in managing your analytics and data between these two software systems.

Custom Predictive Modeling
(Major Giving Likelihood, Annual Giving Likelihood, Planned Giving Likelihood and Target Gift Range)
  • With the integration, the four modeling scores mentioned above are by default checked off to synchronize from RP to RE, and I do recommend integration as the process of choice for importing results from your custom modeling results into RE
  • Please keep in mind if you utilized the PlugIn_52890.zip and RE7Search_63275.zip files up on FTP as provided by your Project Coordinator, you create duplicate modeling scores in RE if you then synchronize records from RP to RE and do not uncheck the default check boxes for these modeling scores

You can find these custom modeling scores and the check boxes referenced above by going to “The Raiser’s Edge integration” button in the top left-hand corner of the Home page:

Then click on the “Configure fields” button:

Then select the “Model scores and ratings” area on the left side:

Then uncheck the boxes on the right side that say the following and "Save" your changes:
      • Annual giving likelihood
      • Major giving likelihood
      • Planned giving likelihood
      • Target gift range

Model Scores and Ratings Attributes
In addition to importing via integration the scores mentioned above, you can also import the following scores – located via query in RP under Model Scores and Ratings à Attributes à Value – via the integration:
  • Principal Giving Segmentation (Tiers 1-4)
  • Past Giver Type (Regular, Occasional and Non-Donor)
  • Velocity Scores (Rising Star, Slow and Steady and At Risk)
  • Affluence Insight (Target Analytics Wealth Segmentation, Target Analytics Income, Target Analytics Net Worth, Target Analytics Investments and Target Analytics Discretionary Spending)
  • Mid-Level Giving Likelihood
  • Any other custom likelihood scores, etc.
You can import any of these other modeling scores and attributes by first selecting the "Model scores and ratings" area on the left side and then clicking on the button with the diagonal pencil on it on the right side:

Then check off the boxes for the data points you wish to integrate, click the "OK" button and then click the "Save" button:

  • One caveat is that if you have already utilized the import files on FTP from your Project Coordinator for these data points (i.e., Affluence Insight file named AffluenceInsightResults_ProspectRating.zip), you will not want to check these boxes since they you will then create a duplicate entry for each attribute score for any records that you synchronize while in RP

Grateful Patient Solution

For our Grateful Patient Solution (GPS) clients, there are some recommendations I have been thinking about with integration that hope will be helpful, such as the following:
  • Integration configuration within ResearchPoint now includes the ability to integrate the GPS Model Scores and Ratings Attribute fields.  I suggest that you move data from the GPS with the same steps mentioned above for any Model Scores and Ratings attributes,
    • Fields you may wish to import into records via integration could be WealthPoint Rating, Holdings, Private Company Ownership, Philanthropic Tag, Philanthropic Insights, NOZA, Income, Who’s Who, Larkspur, Net Worth, Giving Capacity, Affluence Income, etc.,
      • Please note that the fields listed available will vary depending upon what GPS subscription your organization has
      • Also remember if you are utilizing the [InputFileName]_RE_[Date].csv file up on your FTP site to import results from the GPS into RE, then once again you will create duplicate attributes and scores in RE, thus you will not want to check these boxes
    • Bottom line is that it will make sense to utilize integration to move GPS data points into RE vs. importing via the results file up on FTP mentioned in the bullet above depending upon your objectives
      • Many clients do not want all daily patient records that are screened through the GPS service in RE
      • If you only want to have specific prospects with GPS results data in RE – in particular donors who already have records in RE – then integration of records through RP makes sense
      • Your development team should meet to discuss what your objectives are for implementing your GPS results, and you can discuss this with your Target Analytics consultant as well
      • Please note that you can create new records in RE via integration one at a time by clicking on the “Link” button when you are within a record in RP, and then the system will try to find a record within RE for you to “Link” the RP record to.  If it finds a record in RE, then you can Link and Sync them.  If the system does not find a record, then you can create a new prospect record in RE!

I hope that you found this information to be helpful, and I am very interested in our clients sharing advice and best practices re: integration between ResearchPoint and Raiser’s Edge up here on the Target Analytics Community!
