ResearchPoint January 2016 (4.7) Release!

Published

Sorry in advance to those who have logged in after we upgraded you and had the help pane fly open to an error message instead of your 4.7 new features. Our help files are stored in the same place where we host our blackbaud.com website. While we're working very hard to resolve service, I thought you'd still like to read about the latest new features.

New Record State for Income/compensation Assets

To prevent duplicates when we update the data assets for income/compensation from Thomson Reuters and to follow the income progression of officer compensation, we added a new Record state column.

Tip: Thomson Reuters recently removed the restriction for number of officers associated with a company. Previously, only five officers could be associated, now the number of officers is unlimited. Therefore, more data is now available for prospects who have reportable income for a company.

On the Assets tab, under Income/compensation, income records can have a status of "Current," "New," or "Historical."

When you perform a wealth screening for a prospect, we compare existing income/compensation assets against the latest data from Thomson Reuters, and assign one three statuses.

  • Current – When you wealth screen, if an existing income record in your database matches a record in Thomson Reuters, the asset is marked as "Current."
  • New – When you wealth screen, if an income record doesn't match an existing record in your database, but exists in Thomson Reuters, the asset is marked as "New." Once a user views the record, the status updates to "Current."
  • Historical – When you wealth screen, if an income record was in your database before the screen, but doesn't match any records in Thomson Reuters, the asset is marked as "Historical."

Just like historical property tracking, you can manually adjust the income/compensation data if you know the information to be historical.

Note: When you re-screen a prospect, if you have manually changed the record state for an income asset, we will not update the status when the record is refreshed after wealth screening completes. We will update the rest of the income/compensation data, but not the record state for assets that you manually updated.

By default, historical income/compensation assets are not included in capacity formulas. You can select the option to Include historical records, if it is important to one of your capacity formulas.

While capacity formulas can include historical records, prospect research reports, income/compensation identified fields, income/compensation confirmed fields, and income/compensation summaries do not include historical income records.

Target Analytics Prospecting Database

Recently, we fixed an issue where search results for the Target Analytics Prospecting Database were not always sorting correctly by default.

By default, search results sort by wealth descending (prospects with most confirmed wealth at the top).

Target Analytics Data Updates

Since our 4.6 release, we have refreshed the data for NOZA and FEC.

Data asset highlights for 2015:

  • NOZA – Added over 16 million records. The total count of searchable nonprofit gifts is now 118 million .
  • FEC – Added over 2 million new gifts. The number of searchable political contributions is now 25 million .
  • GuideStar – Added over 5.5 million new records to historical GuideStar data. The total count of nonprofit connections is now 31.5 million .
  • Added Social Medial Finder, a new social media data service from Target Analytics. Data records are provided from PeopleGraph, a Dun & Bradstreet company.

We're proud of our ability to provide you with monthly data updates in 2015! We know data integrity is of utmost importance in your prospect research. We hope our commitment to regular data updates has helped you with your major giving campaigns.
