Increased security for Luminate FTP sites on Oct 22

Published
For the last year, Blackbaud Luminate Online® customers have had the ability to upgrade to new, more secure FTP connection methods (SFTP or FTPS). If you are using a standard FTP connection and have not yet switched, time is running out! Connections via standard FTP are scheduled to be blocked beginning on October 22, 2019.

If you have an FTP site and wish to retain access, upgrade your connection method now. You must upgrade to a secure FTP connection by October 22, 2019 or you will no longer be able to connect via standard FTP. This can be configured at any time with these instructions: https://kb.blackbaud.com/articles/Article/120001.

If you are not aware of your organization’s FTP needs, please consult with your technical team to make the decision right for your organization. This may include third-party vendors who you may have contracted to develop apps, web pages, or other technologies using your FTP site on your behalf.

As background, Blackbaud supports two secure FTP protocols to ensure all file transmissions are secure and efficient: FTPS or FTP Secure uses Transport Layer Security and SFTP or “SSH File Transfer Protocol.”  You can choose the type of protocol you need based on your usage requirements. Moving to a secure FTP connection can be done using these instructions: https://kb.blackbaud.com/articles/Article/120001.

These upgrades are part of our ongoing security improvements to protect your data. Thank you for your attention to this important notice.
