Sometimes, little things can make a big difference. Especially when it comes to the success of your TeamRaiser events.
Here are nine simple, yet effective, things you can do to enhance your next TeamRaiser event:
  1. Update your TeamRaiser site.
In case you haven’t already, be sure to implement a responsive TeamRaiser site wrapper so that it’s easy for people to read and navigate from any device. And, include modern best practices, such as highlighting calls to action, displaying a progress meter, and showing top participant/team lists.

  2. Move to Participant Center 3.
Be sure to move to Participant Center 3 (the latest version of the web page where event participants manage their event experience). It’s flexible and provides a great foundation that you can customize in many ways. It’s relatively easy to code, and allows participants to do things like crop images, move between team memberships, and many more things that aren’t possible in Participant Center 2.

  3. Provide a team search popup.
Add a team page donation popup box to allow donors the option to select a team member. This helps to avoid confusion about who (the member or the team) will receive credit for the gift.

  4. Integrate fitness tracking.
A great way to incorporate a sense of community in your virtual or hybrid TeamRaiser events is to encourage participants to share their activity. For example, Strava, a fitness tracking app, integrates with TeamRaiser to allow participants to share how they are training for walks, runs, rides, swims, climbs, and more.

  5. Display a customized shopping cart.
Adding a virtual shopping cart to your TeamRaiser event gives donors actual examples of how their donation can translate into food, goods, and services. Tying dollars to something real is much more compelling than simply asking for a specific amount of money.

  1. Allow donors to cover transaction fees.
When someone donates to your organization online, you’re typically charged a transaction fee by your payment processor that effectively reduces each donation by some percentage (often around 3 percent). By providing an option on your online donation form for donors to cover the cost of transaction fees, you can significantly boost your overall funds raised.

  2. Offer a currency converter.
Display giving level options in a non-U.S. currency, while showing the conversion in U.S. dollars that will be charged. This solution is ideal is your organization is international and targets participants and donors in countries outside of the U.S.

  1. Encourage monthly giving.
When donors make an online donation to one of your TeamRaiser events, present them with the option to make it a recurring gift with the convenience of automated monthly payments. This approach encourages donors to give more over time.

  2. Embed a matching gift tool.
Adding a corporate matching tool to your donation forms helps you boost your fundraising campaign results. Companies like Double the Donation and HEPdata make it simple to embed their matching gift tool in TeamRaiser pages and forms. Working with a matching gift tool makes it much easier for your donors to seek matching gifts and for your nonprofit to track expected gift matches.

The approaches in this article require functionality that is not built into TeamRaiser but can be added with just a few hours of coding and/or integration work. They’re powerful, yet time- and cost-effective ways to take your next TeamRaiser event even further.

Thanks for this, great ideas are listed. However, a few of these options should become standard functions of TeamRaiser (like the team search popup and embed of matching company tool) and not add-ons. This would make the platform much more user-friendly and reduce some of the work on the organization.
