Common Constituent Import Mistakes

Published

Custom constituent imports allow you to import or update constituent information directly into Luminate Online.

When creating a file to import constituents into Luminate Online, be sure to avoid these five common mistakes:

  1. Forgetting to add headers in the top row, either altogether or skipping a column by accident.
  2. Forgetting to include required fields, such as First Name, Last Name, and Email Address or Constituent ID.
  3. Including data from multiple records in one row, such as the email being listed on one record but the Member ID being listed on a different one.
  4. Not including a column for the Accept Email field, or not setting the field to TRUE for all constituents that wish to receive email.
  5. Adding records to the opt-in group instead of the corresponding interest category.
