Hosting Services Refresher: Printing

Published
This blog post will review best practices for printing successfully from the hosted environment, as well as how to contact us and what information we need if you have any additional questions about printing.

  1. Update the version of the Citrix Receiver. This link will take you to our previous post regarding the new version. When new versions have been tested and confirmed compatible with our hosted environment, we notify our customers through our blog.
  2. If your organization has both an Edge product and a BBNC or OCC product, make sure you are only printing from the regular RE/EE/FE icon. The BBNC/OCC plug-in servers are not configured for printing. For more information on the differences between the regular icon and the plug-in icons, see our previous post, Why are There Two Icons for my Application in Blackbaud Hosting Services?
  3. Windows users can use the Citrix Universal Printer (CUP) option for printing. The Hosted session only maps the user’s default printer during the login process, but the CUP not only allows you to preview your document before printing, it also allows you to select other network printers mapped to your workstation without logging out and back in. You can also choose the option to print to a PDF document. For more information on using the CUP, including screenshots, see the post, Hosting FAQ: Printing.
  4. If you do encounter any issues with printing, such as your default printer or the Citrix Universal Printer missing from the list of available printers, please contact Support with the name of the application server you are accessing, as this would be a server-specific issue. For steps on finding the name of the application server, see the Knowledgebase solution, How to determine the Application server being accessed (includes demo).

If you have questions or need assistance with printing in the Hosted environment, please create a case on Case Central, choose your product, and select the Blackbaud Application Hosting topic or contact our Hosting Support team using our chat feature. The most important piece of troubleshooting information you can include when you create the case is the name of the application server you are logged into. For instructions on how to find this information, please see the Knowledgebase solution How to determine the Application server being accessed, or our previous blog post on that topic.
