Ch-ch-ch-ch Changes? Turn and Face the Strange!

In 2019, my family experienced numerous changes. Our daughter moved into the dorms, my in-laws moved in with us for a few months and then into assisted living, I was assigned a new manager and new projects, and my husband changed employers. All in a single year.
On New Year’s Eve 2019, we were all looking forward to a calmer year in 2020 … and then 2020 brought even more changes. As did 2021 and 2022.
At this point, we all might feel used to (or numb from) changes. And many of us are experiencing change burnout. Another change just adds another log onto our change burnout fire.
You, as a leader who has likely experienced many recent changes, could also be dealing with things like staff turnover, remote or hybrid work changes, or goal changes—the list goes on and on.
So how can you be strategic and still be flexible with respect to constant change?
Take a tip from an oldie but goodie, and when it comes to ch-ch-ch-ch changes, you just need to turn and face the strange!
When you create goals, think about what things may change and impact those goals. What situations have impacted your goals in the past? Consider adding levels of goals for best-case and worst-case scenarios.
Prepare your organization for change by having a change management strategy. This will help your organization maneuver through both planned changes and those last-minute adjustments.
