DBAs Rejoice Over Everydayhero Pro Integration

Did you know that everydayhero Pro allows you to integrate with other software programs, including Raiser’s Edge and eTapestry? As a former database administrator at a nonprofit organization, I see this as a “big win,” for two reasons:

• Reason 1: Integrating any software program means less time entering the same information into two different places.
• Reason 2: When you enter data into only one location, you have a much smaller risk of entering incorrect data into the second location. 

There are obviously many other reasons why integration is wonderful, helpful, all-around amazing, but these two reasons were at the top of my list when I was a DBA.

Whenever I learned that a software program allowed integration, my next question was always which direction will the data sync? Meaning, will the data go back and forth between both programs (two-way synchronization)? Or will it just be shared with one program (one-way synchronization)? With everydayhero Pro we enjoy one-way synchronization. Let’s explore what that means.

Data stored in everydayhero can be transferred out of the program and shared with another program, such as Raiser’s Edge. This enables me to take records for individuals who fundraise for my organization and create records for them in Raiser’s Edge. Once my donor information is input into Raiser’s Edge I’m able to continue to build a relationship with donors and keep them up-to-date on my organization’s mission. 

However, with one-way synchronization, I cannot take data from Raiser’s Edge and populate it into everydayhero—that’s a good thing. I want to customize each donor’s experience with my organization in a way that fits their needs. Not all my donors wish to participate in peer-to-peer fundraising. Some donors prefer traditional fundraising methods, prefer to just be volunteers, or even just event attendees—and that’s OK, too. If I were to transfer all my Raiser’s Edge data into everydayhero, then every record would have a peer-to-peer fundraising page, and that’s not our goal.
