Important Update For BBIS Clients Using Blackbaud Secure Payments

Published
As of August 28 2016, Blackbaud Internet Solution (BBIS) clients using Blackbaud Secure Payments (BBSP) version 1.0 web pages will be upgraded to responsive web pages (BBSP version 2.0). BBSP 2.0 is responsive so that donors using mobile devices will get an optimized user experience and supports HTML5 and CSS3 coding. This required update is being made now as part of improved Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliance.

IMPORTANT NOTE: In some cases the update from BBSP 1.0 to BBSP 2.0 may result in visual imperfections that need correction. These imperfections are cosmetic in nature and will have no impact on the ability to accept and process payments.

If you would like to make this change before August 28, here are the steps you will need to take. They will vary depending upon the version of CRM/BBIS you're currently operating on.
  • If you have already upgraded to version 4.0 SP6 or above OR plan to upgrade (in production) prior to Aug 28, you can test and upgrade to 2.0 through the product configuration. [Instructions here]
  • The payment templates for all pages will be updated to 2.0 on August 28th, regardless of whether you’ve upgraded them through the application ahead of time.   Technical Account Managers have access to special hyperlinks that can be used to preview the 2.0 version of the payment template.  These can be shared via email and/or reviewed during weekly status check-ins, if desired.  Changes made to your payment templates AFTER the switch will upload to the new 2.0 page.  If you will not be on 4.0 SP6 prior to August 28 and need to make changes to your template design, the changes will need to be made AFTER the switch on August 28.
  • Customers that used Blackbaud Professional Services to create their templates directly on the BBSP server (bypassing the BBIS upload) can have their templates upgraded to v2.0 at any time prior to August 28th by engaging with Professional Services in a billable capacity, or, you can wait until August 28th when your templates will be automatically updated.
  • If you are not using Blackbaud Secure Payments for your payments pages, there will be no impact.

In order to lessen your PCI burden and keep up to date with industry security guidelines, it is always recommended that you use Blackbaud Secure Payment pages for payment processing.

Please contact your Technical Account Manager if you have any questions or concerns about this upcoming change.

Samantha McGuin
