Inactive Contacts, What’s up with that?

Published
With Raiser’s Edge 7.94, all contact information was moved from addresses to a single contact grid for constituents. The development office is now able to track multiple phone numbers or email addresses with the same contact type. They can also use new identifiers of Primary or Inactive to determine what contact information is preferred or archived for the constituent.

But for our schools, the SIS needs to only show the latest information for a student or parent. With this in mind, Education Edge still only allows one instance of a contact type per address. This can create an issue for schools integrating Education Edge and Raiser’s Edge as this can create “Duplicate phone type not allowed” errors on the Integration Activity Report.

To handle the error on the Integration Activity report, we need to exclude inactive contact information entered in Raiser’s Edge from synchronization with Education Edge. We are working to update integration for our June release to ignore inactive contact information in Raiser’s Edge. We will remove contact information from Education Edge if it is marked inactive in Raiser’s Edge and will not add inactive contact information to the record in Education Edge via integration.
