What’s New: K-12 Product Updates for June 27

Published
We hope you're enjoying the bright and sunny days of Summer vacation! While we're still taking a slight break from our weekly blog posts here in the community (more details here), we still had a pretty big release for the K-12 "ON" Products in June. In case you missed the news, here is your recap for release 13.07, aka the June 27 update.

The June release made a few quality of life updates to the overall experience so users likely already saw improvements to readability and the login. From a product standpoint, onBoard and onCampus have plenty of new content to review, including a few feature enhancements that have long been requested by the community. Before we move on, we're now only a few days away from our big navigation change, so if you haven't yet seen a sneak peak at what you can expect, check out this blog post to get a head start.

Here are a few of the bigger items from this update:

onBoard: Overlapping Grades Support. Arguably the biggest addition within this release is added support for Overlapping Grades to a ton of areas within onBoard. For schools with multiple grade levels, we've created a better organized list with grades now grouped within the appropriate School Level. The intent is to make it easier to find the grade you're looking for.

This functionality has been added in a lot of areas including:
  • Resource Board for guardians that apply additional children.
  • Candidate Profile
  • School Forms Recipient Finder
  • Candidate Checklist Settings
  • onBoard Official Notes
  • Contract Fee Schedule
  • Contract Form Cover Page
  • School Form regarding block for Parents
onCampus: Discover a Simplified Menu for Gradebook Settings. We've also simplified the Gradebook settings for all managers by combining Marking Periods, Grade Access, and Letter Grade Scales into one location. In addition, new options have been added to assist gradebook managers with grade calculation methods for each school level on behalf of their teachers.

As part of this change:
  • Marking Period and Grade Access have been combined into one task to make their dependency clearer. Access to Cumulative Grades and Assignment Grades can now be set independently.
  • Grade Access can now be set for the coach role as well as all previously supported roles.
  • Administrators can set up default values or lock down specific options for Gradebooks including calculation methods, decimal point precision, and more.
  • Teacher Display Options and Gradebook Set-up from the Gradebook has also been updated to honor the grade access and defaults being set by managers.
onBoard: Manually Delete School Forms. We've heard you! Any manager with access to school forms can now delete templates and associated submissions. Schools can even delete forms with 1000 or less submissions, a number we're working on increasing in the future. One thing to keep in mind is that deleting a form is final and can't be recovered.

As always, if you want to see these changes in action, you can always check out the accompanying release video for 13.07. Another reason I'd highly recommend pressing play is that I created the video for this month's release.
