A Helping Hand: More Resources for Remote Educators

Published

Sometimes we all need a helping hand, especially during trying times like these. Today, we're adding even more resources for educators and those who have transitioned to remote learning.

The world continues to face a unique and challenging situation. Teachers and Educators have also been put into an unprecedented circumstance with many schools being pushed into remote learning on very short notice. We understand how stressful this can be so we’re mobilizing as much help and resources as we can to assist.

One aspect of this past Tuesday’s blog post that I wanted to make sure people were aware of, is that we’ve recently put together a special playlist on our YouTube Channel. We’re calling it Distance Learning and we’ve curated a very specific playlist aimed at teachers and educators who are transitioning to working entirely online with their students.

We understand people have enough on their plates right now as it is, so our goal with this is to provide insightful and helpful videos aimed at walking them through certain aspects of the Education management product.

Better yet, we’re making sure to keep this playlist constantly updated with new videos. Earlier this morning, we added a new video which discusses the differences between Assignments and Assessments as well as answering when to use them. Check it out here:

If you haven’t already, I strongly recommend checking back in on that playlist or subscribing to our channel in general for continued updates and all the latest content. As I mentioned, we’ll be keeping it as updated as possible with new content.

The same goes for Tuesday’s Blog Post, which we intend to keep updating as needed. If there’s new information you should know or could potentially help, you bet we’ll be adding it there. So make sure to bookmark it if you haven’t already. We have even more coming soon, which we'll be going into more detail very soon.

We sincerely hope that these resources have helped or aided you in some capacity. This level of change is never easy, so we’ll do our best to try and ease some of that burden or challenge any way we can. Stay tuned for more updates and stay safe out there.

Jennifer Snyder‍ Thanks for your feedback. I've passed it along to the team. In addition, we have an "Ideas" section on this community where you can post suggestions or thoughts on how to improve the product. I highly encourage to post your thoughts there or in a new discussion as well to get the most amount of views that you can.
Where can I leave suggestions for programmers of Blackbaud OnCampus from the point of view of a teacher? We need a better tool to give feedback to students. Students only see our comments if they click the "course details" then "progress" then "view"  and then scroll down under a bar graph to finally a view of assignments and comments. It is not quick or the usual view students go for. They are not reading my comments. Also, viewing their uploaded work though the "box" frame is very slow and annotations are not easy. I have only been able to write on their papers via chrome on an ipad. Computers and other browsers have not worked. This system takes me so much longer than a google docs or Showbie. It seems as if the "teaching and learning" mission has been left behind.
Derek Nichols‍ Thank you for providing so many virtual resources to our members!!
Thanks Matt Connell‍, really appreciate it. Hope you and yours are well and safe.
I've been a remote educator for sometime now but I still remember getting started with this job and the changes my life went through. Approaching education without the people in the room is a big shift. I hope everyone is doing as well as possible. Thanks for sharing Derek Nichols‍
