The Forgotten Report

Published
I’ve been working with the eTapestry product for almost eight years and I love all of the tools it comes with to assist nonprofit organizations with their fundraising efforts.  Today I want to talk about one of my favorite standard reports.  If your organization subscribes to our Executing Reporting module then you should run the Recency Report!

The Recency Report provides you with the ability to report on the number of constituents that have given in a specific year who have not given since that year. Each year displays the number of constituents who gave in that year but have not given since. This is a quick and easy way for you to pull lists of constituents that may have been loyal donors in the past but have since stopped giving to your organization.

There are only two columns on the initial page of the report, Year and Donors whose last gift was this year, but his simple report packs a mighty punch!  The number of donors listed below the Donors whose last gift was this year column is also a link to a detailed report where you can view all the constituents, the exact date of their last gift as well as the total amount that was received from them in that specific year.  You can even create a Custom Account Query for these donors and use the query to send them an email or letter.

Your goal is to get the total number of donors for past years to zero (or as close as possible), because this means you’ve retained all of your donors!

Take few minutes right now and go run this report.  It’s a great tool to help with your organization with donor retention. Reports > eTapestry Standard Reports > Recency Report.
