#GivingTuesday Celebrate And Retain

Published

As I do every year, I logged into social media early on the morning of #GivingTuesday to see the creative and engaging posts and calls to action by various nonprofits. I wasn’t disappointed. I was motivated to share many of your #GivingTuesday posts to encourage others in the social media world to support this day, too!

f528529caca2221e909e5e703a044e11-huge-soI’m thrilled to see #GivingTuesday 2017 was a huge success! Here are some of my favorite 2017 statistics:
  • #GivingTuesday online giving grew by 500% since its creation in 2012
  • Online giving has jumped by 28% since 2016
  • About 26% of online donations were made from a mobile device
  • On Tuesday alone, Blackbaud cloud software systems helped organizations process $60.9 million online donations (up from $47.7 million in 2016)
Is your organization celebrating an increase in donations and donors this year—but feeling a bit overwhelmed by the larger donor base and the associated gift acknowledgements? Here are some tips to help you survive and thrive after #GivingTuesday!c04eeb7ca7393e552540f1aa575db296-huge-li
  • Ensure your supporters are celebrating your #GivingTuesday success with you. Share your accomplishments and stories via your newsletter, donor acknowledgement letters, and social media.
  • A key part of donor retention is saying thank you. Thank your donors for making #GivingTuesday a success.
  • Donors want to feel like they are part of the solution. Show your supporters how every donation they make helps you reach your goals and your mission.
  • Engage with other nonprofits to see how they’re saying thanks and retaining their #GivingTuesday donors. Check out this Blackbaud Community Best Practices post to see and share ideas.

Here’s a comment I just have to share from one of my friends. She doesn’t work at a nonprofit, but she was motivated to do more good because of all of you...

“Have you noticed that #BlackFriday has turned into #BlackFriday week, and #CyberMonday has turned into a week, too? I think we need a #GivingTuesday week. Who’s with me?”

I look forward to reading your responses on the Blackbaud Community Best Practices post. And I’m looking forward to getting up even earlier next year for #GivingTuesday—I don’t want to miss out on any of your creative and engaging posts.
