New Payment Experience - Mini Donation Form

The new Mini Donation Form was released in NetCommunity 7.1 SP1. This new form is intended to capture quick donations and will serve as the foundation for a new full-featured donation form scheduled to be included in subsequent releases. The mini donation form also represents the first NetCommunity part to use the Blackbaud Checkout experience. Blackbaud Checkout provides a superior donor experience while still utilizing a Blackbaud-hosted secure page to collect payment information, even for clients who host their own NetCommunity site. Blackbaud Checkout also gives customers who use Blackbaud Merchant Services additional wallet features of Visa Checkout, Masterpass, and eventually Apple Pay.
In the last few weeks, those of you who have implemented and are testing the Mini Donation Form may have noticed that the look and feel of the Blackbaud Checkout overlay has changed. Blackbaud Checkout currently supports three digital wallet options and we will continue to add support for more into 2018 and beyond. The new design was needed in order to maintain the flexibility for adding newer digital wallet options. This new design also offers a simpler experience when the Billing Address is pre-populated from a NetCommunity Donation form and needs to be updated prior to submitting for payment.
In addition to the redesigned look, Blackbaud Checkout also supports 3-D Secure for card-not-present payments. 3-D Secure is an authentication-based payment system that improves online transaction security. It is used extensively in our international markets. In order to take advantage of this functionality, customers must use a merchant account that is set up to use 3-D Secure processing. In addition to building out the Mini Donation Form in 2018, we will extend the Blackbaud Checkout experience to other transactional forms in NetCommunity such as the Event Registration, Payments 2.0, Membership, etc. This will enable you to take advantage of the streamlined and superior payment experience throughout your site.
