Published
A Blackbaud Europe customer recently encountered data corruption and without a valid up-to-date Backup file from the Blackbaud Management console all of their Data would have been lost.

Occasionally there will be times in which mistakes have been made to your database or data corruption has occurred. The only way to be able to resolve this issue is to revert to a backup through the Blackbaud Management Console.

  • Backup your Database to prevent data loss
  • Schedule Backups through the Blackbaud Management Console
  • If you have a 3rd Party IT team, do they schedule your backups?
  • How much data can you afford to lose?
  • Hosted?

If you are a hosted customer you do not need to worry as backups will be taken of your database by Blackbaud; a transaction log backup is run every 15 minutes.  A full backup is run once a week.  Blackbaud shall provide fully restorable, client data backups in accordance with the following:

Nightly:  Retained on-site for 1 week

Weekly:  Retained off-site for 4 weeks

Monthly:  Retained off-site for 6 months

If you are self-hosted you should ensure you are making constant Backups to ensure you have the option to revert to a backup of your database if data corruption was to occur.
