  • Prepare for Giving Tuesday
Manage tables from the web view (for some of you)

We’ve moved the ability to manage table values, clean up table entries, and add new donor category tables from Tables under Configuration in the database view to the web view. To manage tables in the web view, navigate to Control panel, Tables.

For more information, see Tables.

Manage email opt-in requests

Some messages your organization sends are blocked, such as when a recipient unsubscribes from content or marks content as spam. To learn about why email addresses may be blocked, see Suppression Criteria.

If a recipient wants to receive email after they’ve been blocked, you can email the recipient to confirm their preference. From Marketing, Email, select Email options. Select Opt-in and enter the email address of the recipient. The recipient must select the link in the confirmation email to receive content from your organization.

Updates for California resident donation processing due to Assembly Bill 488

The State of California recently enacted legislation, California Assembly Bill 488 (CA AB488), which regulates online charitable fundraising in the state. Beginning January 1, 2024, Blackbaud will be prohibited from assisting organizations not in “good standing” in California with making charitable solicitations to and receiving funds from California residents. As a result, Blackbaud has made the following changes:

  • Beginning in November 2023, Blackbaud will notify charitable organizations that we believe may not be in “good standing” in California based on government data. To help you navigate the regulations and check your status, see California Assembly Bill 488: Impact to Charitable Organizations.

  • Beginning January 1, 2024, donations made through Blackbaud solutions by California residents to organizations that are not in “good standing” will no longer be accepted. To suppress California residents from upcoming email solicitations or view failed transactions due to California Assembly Bill 488, see California Assembly Bill 488.

Note: Any U.S. registered charitable organization that operates or solicits donations in California is subject to this law.

Hi Blackbaud! Can you clarify the following?

Regarding the email opt-in piece: Would this apply to someone who opted out of OLX emails? In other words, will it opt them back in? Or will folks who use OLX still need to direct people to the OLX Opt-In page created by the org?

(I'm independently testing this on my end but would love some clarification from Blackbaud!)

Hi Carlene - Sorry, this feature won't opt-in recipients who previously opted out of OLX emails.

I love Carlene's question if someone opts in through OLX after opting out from the web view marketing will that email then work in both systems? How can organizations get a blackout list from each system to know where to direct their constituents who wish to opt back in?

    Hi, Elizabeth--

The NXT Email opt-out list and the OLX opt-out list are two separate suppression lists. If the recipient unsubscribes via the Unsubscribe link in an NXT Email job, then the email address will only be added to your organization’s NXT Email opt-out list. If the recipient unsubscribes via the Unsubscribe link in an OLX email job, then the email address will only be added to your organization’s OLX opt-out list.

The NXT Email opt-in feature will only remove the email address from your NXT Email opt-out list, and the OLX Email Signup Forms will only remove the email address from your OLX opt-out list. If a recipient opted out of NXT Email and then submits an OLX email signup form submission, the email address will not be removed from your NXT Email opt-out list.

To view the OLX opt-out list, you can use the Unusable emails list in the OLX plugin:

    1. From database view, navigate to the OLX plugin.

    2. On the Email marketing tab, select Unusable emails.

    3. From Type, select Opt-out.

    4. From Date range, select Custom.

    5. In the From field, enter a date prior to the date that you sent the first email in the From field. You can also use 01/01/00 since OLX didn’t exist in 2000.

    6. Leave the To field blank.

    7. Select Filter.

    8. If you want to export your opt-out list, select Export CSV.

While there is no opt-out list in Raiser’s Edge NXT yet, the list is stored in the NXT Email Supportal. If you would like to request a copy of your NXT Email opt-out list, then you can contact Support and they can provide it to you.
