After the Session: Finding What You Need with Lists and Filters in FE NXT

Published 1
I am always amazed at how incredible and involved our clients are, so let's start by saying a big thank you to everyone that attended this session! We had a great turn out and I hope everyone enjoyed it as much as I did! I really loved creating this session because of the untapped potential I found with lists. We all love queries but going back and forth into the database can be tedious. With just a few correctly applied filters, you can get the same results in half the time with all your data at your finger tips. Play around, have fun and see what you can find!

Session Highlights:
-There are no duplicates in lists like you will find in queries.
-You can add new information easily by using the plus (+) sign.
-You can easily export a list with any of the columns shown.
-The main difference between lists and queries is that queries can use "and/or" logic while lists only use "and" logic.
-Once you set your filters for a list, you can log out, view different pages, etc and the filters will remain (you can always clear the filters as needed.)
-Using lists is a great way to get to know your data. You can't actually "harm" your data unless you edit it (using the 3 dots by the record) so feel free to really test out the filters and columns to find the information that you need!

Below are some of the most asked questions from the session:
Q: What are the reports in NXT that can use query?
A: All reports in NXT have the ability to include a query, with the exception of the Bank Reconciliation and Bank Register report. All others can be filtered by a query on the filter section of reports. Once you are here, you will see the option to include a query.

Q: How Do I know how many records are in the list?
A:  The total number of account records appears above the list. If you have multiple pages of accounts, use the page navigation at the bottom of the list. This way you can easily move from page to page.

Q: On the Reports list, does the "Last Run" column include the reports run from the database?
A: Yes! The "Last run" date is the most recent date that any user ran the report. The same Last run date in Financial Edge NXT also displays in the database view.

Thank you all for going on this journey through Lists in FE NXT. I hope to see you at a future Success Session!

James Hess‍ thank you for letting me know that you are having this issue! I'd love to work with you to see what is going on. I'll reach out to you via DM.

I would disagree with your last Q&A.  I have never found this to be true.  For example, today I ran a report that I then decided that I wanted in excel so I logged into NXT to re-run it because the NXT export is cleaner.  However, the report was listed as "Never" under NXT even though I had run it many times in database, including today.  I would love to be proven wrong but that has been my experience to date.
