We’re celebrating Black History Month in the UK this month by shining a spotlight on Black British female authors who are shaping the world of literature with their creative writings about Black heritage, race, multinational cultures, identity, and more. Open to keep reading…

In observance of Black History Month in the UK this October, we are excited to celebrate the rich heritage and culture of the black diaspora across the UK. This time of celebration uplifts the fundamental impacts that black people of African and Caribbean descent have made to British society for centuries.

The 2024 theme for Black History Month in the UK is “Reclaiming Narratives”. This theme marks a significant shift towards recognizing and correcting the narratives of Black history and culture in the UK. It emphasizes taking control of the stories, celebrating the heritage, and ensuring Black voices are heard.

At Blackbaud, we believe that reflecting on observances like Black History Month and others helps us learn and grow together. As part of our observance, we are highlighting a handful of Black British female authors who are shaping the world of literature with their powerful narratives and novels about Black heritage, race, multinational cultures, identity, diverse experiences, and more. Read about these talented authors and others here.
