Updating to the Raiser's Edge 7.95 from 7.94

Published

The Raiser's Edge 7.95 is continuing to roll out in our hosted environment! If you are hosted with Blackbaud and have not yet been upgraded, you will be updating from 7.94. There are some updated features to look forward to.

To start, no changes will be made to your database’s existing phone/email address structure. Phones and emails will stay where they are. However, you will see 2 new fields within the Phones grid wherever phones are stored.
  • The new Comments column provides a free-text field to enter additional information and serves as a reference to easily identify phone numbers, email addresses and other contact information on records.
  • There will also be a Date Last Changed column in the Phones grid. After editing a phone, this field will be automatically updated to reflect today's date. These new fields are available in query and export.
There are a few other features you may come across. Many of these are based off of customer feedback! When opening relationship records between individual and organization records, the new Source record column is present in the Phones grid. The Source Record field will help identify which information applies to the relationship and which applies to the constituent record. It will help you quickly identify where a phone/email lives and where to go to edit it.

In 7.95, you can also can determine which tab of the contact information grid is selected by default when accessing a constituent record.  This will allow for the most useful information to be displayed when a record is opened.  To learn more about setting up your user options, check out our knowledgebase article.

As you know with the upgrade to 7.94, duplicate phones and emails are now allowed onto records. With 7.95, there is now a Business Rule in Configuration that can be set to allow, prompt for or prevent multiple phone numbers and email addresses of the same type to be saved. Check out this article to learn more. This setting is database specific, so it is something to consider and decide how your organization would like to enter and store contact information.

If you would like to see more details about features of the upgrade, be sure to take a look at our New Features Guide and stay tuned for updates on our Release page!

Thanks Craig! Sorry for the error. I have updated the link to reflect the correct KnowledgeBase article (96760).
This link ("check out our knowledgebase article" - http://kb.blackbaud.com/articles/Article/97660) does not work.
