Pulling out donations by campaign in reports?

Hi there,

I made a compound query of LYBUNTS, SYBUNTS, and donors from this FY. I now want to pull out a report that shows, among other things, who among the folks captured in this query gave to our past two year-end campaigns. In other words, I want a report that shows all Year-End Campaign 2018 and Year-End Campaign 2019 donations, using the above-mentioned query as my base.

Can someone enlighten me on if this is possible and if so, how?

Thank you!

Hi Melissa Kuenzi‍ - I would recommend you do this via export.  You will have much more control over the available fields and the information you want to see on the 'report'.
  • I don't think we have that feature in eTapestry. Are you thinking of Raiser's Edge?

Yep! It did not register what forum your post was located in initially; you are welcome to ignore my responses to your post!

    Hey Melissa!

It can be hard to discuss this without more specifics but let me give this a shot...

If your have your query of donors (Data Return Types = Accounts) you may need one more query here. New query would use your query of Accounts as the Starting query, and have a data return type of Journal Entries to find donations to those campaigns. The criteria should be fairly straight-forward, likely just Campaign similar to https://kb.blackbaud.com/articles/Article/70475 but with your different Starting Query. Once you have your query of donations, you can use it in a custom report and display how you would like.

A few considerations for the report:

    - You can group by donor if you'd like to see each donor with the list of each of their donations to those campaigns

    - You can group by donor and collapse the groups to see totals. You can use aggregates and have a Received in multiple columns to see the 2019 total for the donor and the 2018 total for the person. This article goes over how to use those aggregates: https://kb.blackbaud.com/articles/Article/114130. Using aggregates instead of Summary fields means that the total will show you the total for ONLY the donations in your query as opposed to looking at the 2019 total for the entire account regardless of campaign.

I hope this helps. Some changes may be needed depending on the specifics, but aggregates are great for seeing a meaningful total.
