Starting to use membership?

We have two membership “societies” that we have been tracking outside of eTapestry, although the donors exist in eTapestry. Is it possible to convert existing transactions to a membership status? We're having difficulty keeping track of overdue payments, and non-paying members, and would like to better utilize eTapestry to assist our societies.

  • @Betsy Rubenstein Hi! I see it has been about 24 hours with no response, so I'm reaching out to my team to see if we can assist!

  • @Crystal Bruce thanks! I'd love to talk to someone about converting. We've never used memberships, just defined fields in eTap and spreadsheets out of eTap, to track, and need something more robust!

  • @Crystal Bruce it's been a while since you were looking to see if you could help, and I haven't heard from anyone. Got any ideas?

  • @Betsy Rubenstein I am going to tag my team member @Geoff Arbuckle in to see if he knows of any resources to share!

Hi Betsy! What you're looking to do will be dependent on a few things. You mention you want to convert existing gifts into membership transactions and then perhaps try to sort out a due date to remind members to renew.

These could potentially both be handled by a combination of things:

    • A Fund or Approach indicating that this is a membership transaction
    • A Mass Update to take those transactions (based on a query, so you will need to find those exact transactions) and edit that fund or approach to show it is a membership transaction
    • Then, using the date of the transaction, that could be used in a query to identify those who are coming up for renewal to then communicate with them via an email or letter, etc.

Since I am an expert in eTapestry, I will reach out to you for some more information and see how we can figure out doing this going forward.
