SP33+, Visual Studio, and SQL 2016
We're testing SP33 HF 1 for deployment and updating development environments. However, we're running into some version confusion.
CRM SP33 requires Visual Studio 2022. We're on SQL Server 2016. For SSIS packages, Visual Studio 2022 can only target SQL Server 2017+, which means Visual Studio 2019 is the highest version we can use with SSIS.
Has anyone else dealt with this? What was your solution/experience? I'm fairly sure ramming through a SQL upgrade is not in the cards.
Thanks,
Mitch

Hi Mitch, did you get any responses for your questions? Have you been able to implement VS2022 with SSIS? If you have taken VS2022, is it professional version or the free developer version?
I have questions as well on what exactly is affecting SSIS with SP33. We are on SP 33 and I am currently using VS2019 and SSMS version 2019. So far, I have been able to deploy new SSIS packages built with VS2019 after taking SP 33. And so am not sure what exactly is the impact if we don't take VS 2022?0 -
I never got a response. I manually edited the XML of the SSIS Project to set it to target SQL Server 2016 and it seems to have worked. I just looked at the latest version and it seems like 2016 is now a target option in the drop down for the project, it definitely wasn't before. I'm not sure if that's because I monkeyed around though. I am desperately searching for a piece of wood to knock on as I may have jinxed things. :-)

@Satyavathi Atluri We needed VS 2022 due to needing .NET 6 for our web projects (VS 2019 doesn't support this version) since Microsoft is no longer supporting .NET 5 and our IT team told us we needed to upgrade to VS 2022. In VS 2022 the .vsix install for refresh UI model doesn't work until you get SP33. In terms of SSIS packages I know that our Business Intelligence developer ran into issue but was able to do a workaround to make them work. I can send you his contact information if you have more questions about getting SSIS packages to work in VS 2022.

@Laurie Therrien - Hi Laurie, so good to hear from you and it is good to know the impact with UI models and .NET. I shall keep those in mind. Yes, I would like to connect with your BI developer to hear about his issue and the workaround. Please send me his contact information.

@Mitchell Gibbs
hahaha… touch all the wood you can. Good to know you fixed your issue by manually updating the XML and things are now working.0
