Thinking of adding JustGiving and want to see how the batches intergrade with web view batches.

I have not used web view batches yet because most of our batches include pledge payments and you can't do that via web view batches. We are considering using JustGiving for this years campaigns and I wanted to see if anyone can show me - give me a screen shot or tell me if the batch integration is easy and how it looks. Donations via OLX are able to be “adjusted” as needed, so wanted to make sure the same is true for web view batches. TIA

  • @Sharon Yokelson I don't have any pending gifts at the moment, so can't share a screenshot, but I'll still tell you about the process as I view it. The gifts automatically come into the batch, and one batch is one day. With some ahead of time setup in the settings area of the integration, some fields will be filled in by RE. I check through the batches, and then commit. This process is easy, in my opinion. The downsides are the automatic duplicates that are created, and that I still have to some cleanup of both the gifts and constituents in database view after, but I have now developed queries for that which help find those records, and some of it is possible through global changes. The upside is that it's SUPER easy for donors. The reports that you can run, for reconciliation, etc. are decent.

Thank you- this is helpful. One of my concerns is that many people use “autofill” when making a donation and most of the time the information is not the same as we have in RE. For example, the address might be in all uppercase, the name might be Sue and Bob, not just Sue, the city is different than what is in RE, etc. We also use our “General Fund” as our default fund in the forms, and then I change it to reflect the actual fund it goes into, like Board or Parents. Are these types of changes easy to make before committing the batch or does it need to be done after committing? The duplicate records concerns me too. Thank you again.

@Heather MacKenzie thank you!!! If you ever have time, Id love to see this in action in a live database with live data. Demo data can only get you so far. ;) Or any documentation you have could be helpful for me to learn too. PS: Interested in a webinar to share your secrets?

  • @Sharon Yokelson Definitely take Jackie up on her offer! As for your questions, I find it easier to do that sort of cleanup in database view after the batch is committed, but I think that's more because we also have required fields that need to be filled in that RE Webview still ignores, so doing it in db view helps me make sure I get everything that needs to be gotten.

  • @Jackie Zimmerman We are currently only using JG for our year end campaign. I've put a note in my calendar to reach out to you once we have gifts that I could let you see. As for the webinar, thanks but no thanks! Not my cuppa tea. :-)
