Important update on Mail merge functionality in Blackbaud CRM

Published
Details of the Change:
On April 15 2021, the license provided by a 3rd party vendor that provides a necessary component for the Blackbaud CRM mail merge solution is set to expire. We have learned from the vendor that a change in their licensing process will require a product change to Blackbaud CRM, and an eventual Service Pack upgrade for Blackbaud CRM customers. We have worked with the vendor to come up with an interim solution that will cause minimal disruption to Blackbaud CRM customers. As part of the interim solution, we can modify the impending license expiration date in the database to a future date.

What Action do I need to take:
If you are hosted by Blackbaud, then there is no action required from you. If you are not hosted by Blackbaud, please run the script on your database that will modify the license expiration date to a future date.
This script is linked to the KB (https://kb.blackbaud.com/knowledgebase/articles/Article/196123) and will need to be run on your database.
Please note: Mail merge functionality will not fail as of April 15 2021, as a Blackbaud CRM service will obtain a new copy of the license when the mail merge is performed. However, in order to avoid performance issues caused by the service making calls each time a mail merge is performed, we recommend that you run the script at your earliest convenience.
