Use Raiser's Edge to set up and manage your campaigns efforts. Yes, Raiser's Edge is more than an expensive rolodex! Here is an essential checklist to complete before embarking on a new campaign.
Want more tips? I'm leading an interactive webinar called 30-Minute Tips & Timesavers on April 18th at 1pm ET where you can learn more from me and other Raiser's Edge users.

- Set up your campaign, fund, and appeal records. Be sure to go into the campaign/fund/appeal tabs within these records as you can set defaults and limit which campaigns/funds/appeals your staff see when entering/editing data in record view and batch.
- Does your campaign have staff fundraisers (solicitors)? Set them up in campaign, fund, and appeal records. Set them up as assigned solicitor relationships in your prospect records. This sets the stage for prospect reporting in Raiser's Edge. More to come in June and July in this blog.
- Review the configuration/set up of opportunities (proposals) in Raiser's Edge, paying specific attention to these commonly used fields: name, purpose, campaign, fund, status, reason, rating, and all the amount/date asked fields. The remaining fields tend to be renamed and repurposed, if they're used at all. Consider hiding fields not in use.
- Make sure you have action and acknowledgement letters revised and ready to go! The industry average for time to stewardship is 4 days.
- Train your staff how to add actions and ensure they're linked to the opportunity/proposal. Note: you can do this from the opportunity/proposal record, and the action record.
- If you have Blackbaud Analytics data in your database, make sure to use that information to assign staff fundraisers (and opportunities) to prospects accordingly.
