Assessment Updates for April 11, 2020

Published

Surprise Saturday blog post! While this isn’t going to be typical going forward, we have some important news to share regarding a new Education management product update.

With all schools using the online classroom environment, we have seen an uptick in Assessment usage for a lot of teachers. Assessments allow teachers to create online tests or quizzes that students can work through right from their computer.  We have been hard at work adding small updates to Assessments to make them the best tool in a teacher’s toolbox. On April 11, the following updates have been applied to Assessments:

HTML Answers in Assessments

When a faculty member is creating an Assessment, they can now use HTML, special characters, and other formatting options when adding answers for multiple choice questions. This will allow them to include equations, foreign language, etc. in their answers for multiple choice questions.

Individual Student Times on Assessments

Faculty can change the Time to complete for Students that may need extra time when taking an Assessment. Once a section has been added to an Assessment, they can add individual student times by selecting Adjust individual students’ times under the Time to complete field.

This will open a module that will allow faculty to enter in individual times for each student in the course. If more than one course section is selected, the students will appear grouped by section. Once a student’s time has been edited, they will appear on the settings for the Assessment with their individual time and the students’ due times will be adjusted.

Save Assessments

Students can now save Assessments as they work through them if they are concerned about bandwidth or timing out as they are working through essay portions. When a student takes an Assessment, they will see a Save and Continue button, they can use this to save the Assessment and continue working on it.

That’s going to do it for today, but if you’re curious for more, make sure to check out the release notes for April 11. Also be on the lookout for next Tuesday as we’ll have another update as well as a new blog post right here in the community. Have a great weekend and stay safe!
