Putting Faces to Names with Constituents' Facebook Profile Pics

Published

***UPDATE: Well, this used to be a feature, but Facebook has since updated their security settings and no longer provides these profile pictures. This was an exciting and beneficial feature, so we're busy exploring alternatives for a future update (including the ability to upload your own pics, just in case a donor's profile picture of their cat doesn't meet your needs). Stay tuned for more details!***

There's nothing quite like being able to put a face to a name to make a connection with a constituent more personal and direct. As a faceless figure you haven't had a chance to meet, "Robert Hernandez" may be a mysterious recurring giver who has a clear interest in your mission. But after you meet, he's suddenly Bob, that guy with kind eyes, goofy grin, and slightly receding hairline who's really excited about your cause. In short, he's no longer an aloof unknown entity; he's human, a person you can easily connect with. To ease managing a relationship with a constituent, use their Facebook profile picture on their record in Raiser's Edge NXT and put a face to their name.

To use a constituent's profile picture, simply save the URL to their
Facebook profile on the Bio 1 tab of their record in the database view. Raiser's Edge NXT will automatically get the constituent's profile picture from their Facebook wall (unless Facebook can't provide the pic due to privacy settings or whatnot; in that case, the default placeholder image appears).
