What's New For Some (and Upcoming For Most): Report Builder!

Published

For flexibility in how you analyze and share data, some of you can now design custom dashboards in Analysis, Report builder.

5eaef3bb9f41e03fa8b2eab68d973f01-huge-daWhen you design your dashboard, you choose from — and drag-and-drop — several out-of-the-box insights about constituents, gifts, actions, and opportunities. To help customize the analysis as you add it to a dashboard, you can:
  • Apply filters to specific insights or the overall dashboard.
  • Choose which of its measures — such as amounts or totals — to view.
  • Override its default attributes or criteria, such as to analyze giving by funds instead of campaigns.
If your organization needs additional flexibility, you can choose to use Insight Designer to design custom insights. When you design insights, you can:
  • Choose from different chart types — such as tables, bar and column charts, or scatter plots — to best convey your data and ease analysis.
  • 9fa1b67a746cadf4be234805012c8e5a-huge-inPair measures about constituents, giving, actions, or opportunities with related attributes — via drag-and-drop — to analyze amounts or totals based on specific criteria. (To get started with common custom giving insights, check out the Gift Insight Recipes Help.)
  • Apply filters to measures to help narrow their focus to specific records.
With a dashboard's flexible formatting options, you can:
  • Place out-of-the-box and custom insights side-by-side and adjust their layout.
  • Edit an insight's measures or attributes directly from the dashboard.
  • Share dashboards with other at your organization.
In Fundraising, Reporting, you can now view these shared custom dashboards with the same pre-configured dashboards — such as Campaigns and Retention — you used in Fundraising, Analyze. To streamline your experience, you can choose which pre-configured dashboards to view. For more information, see the Report Builder Help

Admins! In Control Panel, Security, you can choose which roles can access Analysis, Report builder or Fundraising, Analyze. For those with access to Fundraising, Analyze, you can also choose which pre-configured dashboards they can use. For more information, see the Report Builder Rights Help and Analyze or Reporting Rights Help.

We are still waiting. Any updates for Jan 2019?
Ha, Karen! Glad to hear there's anticipation for this feature. Keep an eye on your Raiser's Edge NXT; if all goes well with these earlier waves, it'll continue to release in additional waves over the coming weeks. Thanks!
You just keep teasing us with this Steve and I want this feature now  :)
I guess there is no way to tell what "wave" you are in or when the feature will be rolled out to you?
This looks great! I'm excited to explore this option.
This is amazing news!

WANT NAO!!!

Seems odd that it would be assigned to folks who are already using "related features" as they are probably happy with the built-in reports and thus using them. I would presume that those who would most use the report builder are like us and not using the Analyze section at the moment because it does not meet our needs, but we will be the last group to receive this update even though we have asked numerous times to try it out.
Hey Karen! Report builder went out to some this week as part of waved rollout. If you weren't included in the first wave, keep an eye out over the coming weeks as it releases through continued waves. For more information about waved rollouts, check out this blog post from a couple months back: https://community.blackbaud.com/blogs/13/4854. I hope that helps! Thanks!
When do I get this ?- upcoming for most isn't enough information :)
