NXT Events Preview And Coming Attractions!

Do you get to the movies early to watch the previews? Similar to how Hollywood gears audiences for new films, our approach to new features allows you to preview what’s coming.

Our latest “preview” is events functionality and is available in its first limited release to 50 customers.

Note: Over the next several months, we expect to roll Events out in waves to all Raiser’s Edge NXT customers who have Events Management. To learn more about how Raiser’s Edge NXT rolls functionality out in waves, see this post about our MVP approach to releasing new features.

In Events, you can:
•    Add events and manage details about them, such as when they take place
•    Set prices
•    Add and manage participants and their guests
•    Take payments at the door
•    Mark attendance onsite

In the coming weeks and months, this introductory functionality will include more robust features so you can manage events entirely in the web view.

Soon, you’ll also be able to:
•    Create and manage online registration forms from an event record
•    Manage information about multiple participants at the same time, such as whether they’re invited to the event
•    Send an email directly from a participant list
•    Export participant data
•    And much, much more!

What makes Events in web view useful today

Even if previews don’t typically excite you, you should consider this one. Use Events in web view for day-of-event functions like selling tickets and marking attendance as people arrive.

How do I find Events?

If you’re an admin, you’ll see Events in the navigation when it’s available for your organization. To enable other users to access Events in the web view, create an event role and add them to it from Control Panel, Security.

Note: Events privileges set for a user's security group only apply to Events Management features in the database view.

We look forward to partnering with all of our customers as we continue to evolve our Events features! As you start to work with the features, be sure to discuss your thoughts and share your ideas in the Community to help guide their development!

How can I find out when this will be available for my organization? We run 250+ events through RE each year and desperately need this functionality. Thanks!
Samantha McGuin‍ - Got it, thank you!

We typically export a lot of information from constituent records. This includes constituent email and phone (we don't currently check primary so this doesn't export for us right now), suffixes (grad year), education information (major), attributes (giving societies), relationships (spouse name, primary development officer) and constituent codes (parent, alumnus, employee, etc.)  I think for our more complex events we will still pull exports from the database, but the ability to add in more columns from the constituent records would help our workflow a lot!
Meghan Osborne‍ - currently, if you add/remove columns from the Participant List whatever your current field "view" is will be what is included in the export. I'm guessing, though, that the fields you want to export aren't yet available. What fields specifically are you missing/ and looking for?

Hi Samantha, our team has been very excited about all of the features in the NXT Events module and the development team really likes being able to see who is registered.

For the participant export, is there a way to customize the fields in the export file for our needs, or a way to attach our event participation query/export that we use in the database view of RE? There's certain information that we would like to include for our team. Thanks for your insight!
Is there a way to find out what "wave" an organization will roll with or an approximate time that we can expect to have this feature? It sounds like it will be so beneficial!
Excellent news, looking forward to seeing the functions, as we use Events module for our entire university's events.
This is so exciting! I just went hunting for Events in my NXT but couldn't find it and then noticed this post. This will be such an awesome feature to have since our MGOs mostly just use NXT web view, so right now, can't assist with updating events. Looking forward to seeing this appear! Thanks for sharing.
Meghan Osborne‍  - Looks like you made it into this round!  You should see Events in your nav bar - if you don't see it, have your admin add an Events Role and add you to it. :)
Samantha, I'm getting an error message when I try to reply to your message but please do include me in the next round. I am with the team at University of North Carolina Wilmington. Thank you so much!
Kate Tripoli‍  - Seating is on the roadmap, but not this year. We have some basics to get through first before we tackle seating!
Meghan Osborne‍  I'm PM'd you. We don't yet have "Cannot Attend" functionality but as we work through the Invitation process we expect that will be a use case we cover later this year!

Thanks for sharing. Is it still possible to join the limited release preview? Our events team would love to see how the system works and give feedback. We are very excited about the added feature of a "Cannot Attend" option for our guests that was shared during BBCON in 2017. The ability for guests to let us know they cannot come will be a game changer!
I can't wait for this! Will there be a seating tool, as well?
I love having Events functionality in NXT.  I'd love to be able to filter in lists by events as well.
Exciting! Thanks for sharing :)
